Although the Dishwasher is a cleaning machine, it’s interior and controls panel components need regular maintenance and care. It is very important to take the right measures for cleaning dishes properly and to keep the dishwasher maintained to ensure it works properly. With regular cleaning, the appliance will work smoothly so you can wash dishes effortlessly and can save your time to enjoy good things happening around you.

Guidelines for Cleaning and Maintenance of Dishwasher:

The following are steps suggested to maintain your dishwasher.

For Cleaning Dishes Effectively

  • Disposal is required to be removed before turning on the dishwasher as it creates a clock in the sink that can be the reason for the blockage of the water resulting in a flood.
  • Use dishwashing agents only taking the recommended amount of it.
  • Plug dishwasher into a grounded outlet if it is not directly wired. Avoid using the extension cord.

For Cleaning the Dishwasher

Only some parts of the dishwasher need to clean.

For the control panel use the damp cloth and dry it properly after cleaning it.

Avoid using harsh abrasives for cleaning dishwasher. Properly clean the strainer, pump, and spray arms after every three months following the manufacturer’s guide.

Wait for at least 20 minutes after a cycle to enable the heating element to be cooled down before cleaning the interior of the dishwasher. If this factor is not considered, there are high chances of getting burn injuries.

For Removing Stains

  • Use dishwashing agents to clean the stains. If the iron content in the water available at your place stains the dishwasher, clean the stains with commercially soluble rust remover which is safe for use in dishwashers.

For checking Leaks

  • Automatic dishwasher detergents are best for dishwashers as the wrong detergent can cause it to be leaked.
  • The inspection of the dishwasher is necessary for leaks every six months. After every washing carefully looks along the front and underneath the dishwasher for water leaks.
  • Seek professional help to repair any leaks or clogs immediately.
